I think they keep stuff in beta so then they can take it out of beta and have an inflated story and something else to draw attention to it.  Well, that makes three things.  It exists.  It gets used and someone comments about about it, while it’s in beta.  Then it goes out of beta, and officially launches.  Hmmm… maybe I should go back to school and turn in beta papers instead of drafts.  Then I could go back years later and claim that if it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be, it’s because it’s still in beta.
