Just Chipping Off the Creative Block
August 23, 2007 by Toby Getsch
Yesterday I posted about some creative block I’m trying to work through. For the rest of the day I continued to make some changes to get through it. Hey, if you keep doing what you’ve always done and expect different results, that’s probably not too SMRT.
Here are some of the things I did.
- changed work environment: I worked for a few hours in a conference room, away from my regular office and desk.
- focused on something else for a little while: I put a little time into some other projects.
- ate dinner somewhere different: I just went to Subway, but I haven’t been there in at least a few months.
- went to bed earlier
- got up earlier: I made coffee at home this morning, and I watched the sunrise as I crossed Lake Washington on the bus to work. It’s so gorgeous around here!
- trimmed and filtered my blog reading list: I got it back down to under 100 feeds, from about 160. (I wasn’t actively reading that much since my last break. It was more like cleaning out a junk drawer.)
Anyway, that’s just some of the stuff I did. Now, I have to make some serious progress on a presentation I’m working on…
