What is knowledge management?
April 29, 2007 by Toby Getsch
This [UPDATE: link to Wikipedia's KM page] is a really good answer to this question. I am the new Knowledge Manger at ECG Management Consultants. Sometimes I can explain what that is in a really simple and clear way. Other times it’s much more difficult and very wordy. Today, I was asked to explain it twice, to two very different people. The answer I give usually depends on the the person asking the question. Depending on what s/he knows and what the perspective is really shapes the explanation.
This link does a good job of explaining Knowledge Management and also explaining the impact that it has on an organization. IMO, this type of job has a huge (one of the largest) impacts on the extensibility of organizational growth strategy. (NOTE: My disclaimer is clearly noted. Right now that’s in the bottom right of the sidebar on this blog.)
